Privacy Notice
Last updated: 31 July 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how Oleksandr Mykhailichenko, operating Seafarer Trust Network (“we”, “us”), collects and uses your personal data when you use the Service, and the rights you have. We are the controller of your personal data.
1. Data we collect
- Account & identity: name, email, phone, nationality, rank, and any bio or avatar you add.
- Sea-service & documents: contracts, vessels, dates, and documents or scans you upload (e.g. sea-service testimonials, seaman’s book pages) for verification, plus certificate expiry metadata.
- Verification & reputation: colleague connections, confirmations, endorsements, and your Trust Score.
- Payment data: handled by our payments provider (see §4); we do not store your card details.
- Technical data: log data, device/browser information, and cookies necessary to run the Service and keep you signed in.
2. How and why we use it
- to provide the Service and verify your sea service (performance of a contract);
- to operate accounts, security, and fraud prevention (legitimate interests);
- to process subscriptions and comply with tax/accounting duties (legal obligation);
- to communicate with you about the Service and expiry reminders you set up;
- to improve and maintain the Service.
3. Public profile & blockchain — important
Parts of your record are public: your public profile and verified sea service can be viewed by anyone with the link, so employers can verify you without an account. When a record is verified, it may be permanently anchored on a public blockchain (Base, via the Ethereum Attestation Service). On-chain attestations are immutable and cannot be edited or deleted by anyone, including us. To limit exposure, on-chain records reference an internal identifier rather than your raw personal data where possible. Because of this immutability, the right to erasure (below) cannot apply to data already written on-chain — please consider this before submitting a record for verification.
4. Sharing & processors
We share data only as needed to run the Service, with providers acting on our behalf:
- Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”) — our reseller and merchant of record, who processes payments and related data under its own privacy policy;
- hosting, storage, email, and infrastructure providers used to operate the Service;
- public blockchain infrastructure, for verified attestations as described in §3;
- authorities or third parties where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for as long as required for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes. On-chain records persist indefinitely by design.
6. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR for users in the EU/EEA and equivalent laws elsewhere), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You can exercise these rights, or withdraw consent, by contacting us. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Note the on-chain limitation described in §3.
7. Security & international transfers
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by law.
8. Contact
